Roccabianca a castle to discover

Among the wonderful, fairy-tale castles of Parma low, there is certainly Roccabianca Castle or Fortress. Road Culatello
was Pier Maria Rossi, lord of the country, will the erection of the fortress in the sixth decade of the fifteenth century, legend has it that the leader's dedication lover Bianca Pellegrini, hence the name derived the name of the country, Roccabianca.
This is a house of regular plant, square, with sides perpendicular to the long country roads that lead in the market square (Piazza Minozzi) so as to be in the heart of town.
the obviousness not only romantic but also residential distinctly defensive, and could not be otherwise for a place at the intersection of bloody struggles feud between Rossi and Pallavicini, you notice the mighty spurs angular axis meridian, from the podium of a truncated pyramid on which the fort, from the slopes. Above the block wall stands the keep to two floors in the courtyard on the opposite side of the main entrance: the structure is similar to that of Torrechiara , Noceto , Varano Melegari and Castelguelfo . The architectural elements of the complex, however, show the compositions at different times and several times. Inside were once precious and famous frescoes attributed to Niccolòda Varallo, with stories of Griselda (from the famous novel decameroniana) and the astrological cycle, commissioned by Pier Maria Rossi, and in 1897 removed and transferred to the Museo del Castello Sforzesco in Milan. The ceiling of the room on the first floor where they were staying the frescoes still has a sky-blue background, perhaps alluding to the deeds Rossiane.
Recently restored, with recovery of the coffered ceilings of the late fifteenth century, the Castle of Roccabianca, is owned private and can be visited by appointment only.
